Health workers are moving across borders more than ever, reshaping how countries plan and retain their workforce. This comes at a time when health emergencies and tighter funding are already straining health systems.
At this WHO Western Pacific webinar, Dr Samir Garg and Prof James Buchan will provide an overview of regional and global trends in health workforce mobility, along with the latest updates to the WHO Global Code of Practice on the International Recruitment of Health Personnel.
It will also feature country experiences from Samoa and Indonesia. Mr Fauatea Henry Taylor, Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer at the Ministry of Health Samoa, will share about workforce mobility in a Pacific island context. Dr Jeffri Ardiyanto, Director of HRH Deployment at the Ministry of Health Indonesia, will discuss efforts in supporting nurses through return and reintegration.
